Listeners to Super Scoreboard on Radio Clyde tonight are in for a treat as their experts try to come to terms with the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Following last Saturday’s draw away to St Mirren there was a frenzy of anticipation that the Dutchman would be removed but with each passing day it seemed like the Ibrox hierarchy would try and brass next their way through the crisis.
In midweek the media messengers started to highlight the lengthy injury list accompanied by the suggestion that the return to action of John Souttar, Filip Helander and Kemar Roofe would transform the SPFL table.
On Friday van Bronckhorst gave an interview to Sky Sports News which seemed to suggest that he was staying in charge, at least until the season resumes on December 15 with a visit from Hibs.
Then at 9.45 this morning the Glasgow Times was gifted the news that Gio was a goner, half an hour later a club statement followed with confirmation that Ange Postecoglou had sacked another Ibrox boss before Christmas.
The airwaves should be lively between 6 and 8 over the next few nights, while fanciful names are mentioned for the vacancy the reality is that it will almost certainly be a straight choice between David Martindale and Robbie Neilson to be fitted out for brogues and a blazer.

Kenny Miller will be on every night this week shouting that if they can win the next 3 ‘ Old firm ‘ games their right back in it
Any manager with a pedigree would demand a budget for January purchases,
which suggets that maybe a caretaker would be preferable – until the ST money comes in?
EIther way, Gio’s departure a week after the St.Mirren game makes the Blue Room look slow.
And, it looks like sevco has accepted that it can only win a cup this season! 🙂
Ahh poor ol-sorry new wangers!
I have it on good authority that Bruce Wayne is going to buy the club. Waynegers.
More like Bruce Forsythe.
The BENNYS on superscoreboard tonight will be talking him for manager of the year had he stayed on.
