Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Celtic already have a couple of signings lined up for the January transfer window.
Vissel Kobe defender Yuki Kobayashi has been strongly linked with a move to Celtic but no other names are out there to the same extent.
Celtic already have more than 20 first team ready players with James McCarthy and Yosuke Ideguchi struggling to make it into the matchday squad.
So far this season Celtic haven’t been badly impacted by injuries but the depth of the squad was tested last week against Sydney FC when the hoops were without four players on duty at the World Cup Finals with three others (Joe Hart, Moritz Jenz and Giorgos Giakoumakis) missing through injury.
Postecoglou likes to have transfer business under control, with more than a month to go until players can be registered the hoops boss told the Daily Record that deals are already in place and just waiting on the official announcements:
It’s fair to say there’s a couple lined up. It’s how we’ve done things and how I believe we need to be. It’s how I’m built. I don’t like rushing around last minute. It’s not always the case. Matt O’Riley we did in three days last year. We saw an opportunity and moved really quickly.
We need to be agile when we need to and when we don’t, we can methodically plan to make sure we get things done. If we can get guys early, once January 1 hits they are already part of this football club.
On December 31 last year Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Ideguchi were all announced as signings with Matt O’Riley added within a fortnight of the window opening.
After watching the Australia game last night, the dead man walking, “Mooy”should be shown the door, not up to Celtic standards.
