Trusted source reveals that Celtic are preparing to sell after new contract talks break down

Transfer

Celtic are preparing for incoming bids for Josip Jyaranovic when the transfer window opens in January.

Stephen McGowan of the Daily Mail provides a very accurate commentary on Celtic transfer business with the defender the most likely departure from Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

At the age of 27 the next transfer window would seem to be the best time to sell Juranovic with Tony Ralston a regular and very capable deputy, especially in domestic matches.

In 2018 Croatia reached the final of the World Cup before losing to France, another run deep into the competition is likely to draw attention to their SPFL-based full-back with Celtic sending out the signals that they are willing to do business.

In the Daily Mail, McGowan reports:

CELTIC are preparing for offers for right-back Josip Juranovic after the World Cup finals.

Selected in the Croatia squad for Qatar, the defender’s current deal runs until May 2026.

Following unsuccessful negotiations over a new contract, however, Sportsmail understands that Celtic are now braced for bids after a tournament where the 27-year-old is expected to be first-choice right-back ahead of Bayern Munich’s Josip Stanisic.

Juranovic arrived in Glasgow in a £2.5million deal in August 2021. Previously linked with Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea, a strong showing in Qatar is expected to draw firm offers when the transfer window opens in January.

An offer of around £20m would be difficult for Celtic to resist, last January Ange Postecoglou brought in Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley and Yosuke Ideguchi for around £5m combined.

Seeing Juranovic move on isn’t a move that many fand will welcome but over three transfer windows Postecoglou has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to strengthen the first XI rather than just bring in squad fillers.
