Ceri Bowley has rapidly deleted a tweet in support of Giovanni van Bronckhorst as he sweats over his own Ibrox pay-off.

On his Linked-in profile Bowley describes himself as ‘First Team Coach at Rangers Football Club Technical Leadership’ but so far there has been no mention of the fate of van Bronckhorst’s backroom staff.

Anyone openly critical of club policy can suddenly find their pay-days coming to an end as Cristiano Ronaldo discovered earlier today.

Claiming that his boss was sacked as a victim of his own success wasn’t the smartest move that Bowley could have made with the media looking closely for reactions to the sacking of van Bronckhost.

Covering what looks like an expensive own goal from Bowley, The Sun reports:

RANGERS first team coach Dr Ceri Bowley deleted tweets from his social media account today after calling Giovanni van Bronckhorst a “victim of his own success”.

The Welshman joined the Dutchman’s backroom team this summer.

That was after previous stints as academy director of Barry Town United in his homeland and roles at the FA, Swansea City and Merthyr Town.

He broke silence over the Dutchman’s sacking this morning when he hailed Van Bronckhorst as “a man of integrity and honour, the most professional and respectful in football”.

He added: “Proud to have been by your side and sorry I couldn’t do more. A victim of your own success, you will be back stronger and even better.”

There has been no further comment from Ibrox since they announced van Bronckhorst’s sacking. The players return to training next week with no sign of who will be in charge on a caretaker basis.
