Kenny Miller wants a quick decision from the Ibrox board on the future of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

As a manager his race has been run, three days short of the first anniversary of his appointment the team is in free fall with a multitude of problems coming to the surface.

A record breaking Champions League has come in tandem with falling NINE points behind Celtic after 15 matches with the gap on the pitch between the two Glasgow clubs even greater than the SPFL table reflects.

There is no case for retaining van Bronckhorst but a lucrative contract that runs until May 2025 is the biggest obstacle to ditching the Dutchman with the lack of an obvious successor falling in closely behind.

Miller has watched the season unravel through his multitude of media roles, discussing the lame duck manager today on Radio Scotland he admitted:

There just needs to be some kind of decision, real clear decision.

If the decision’s going to go one way and Gio was to leave, it gives someone effectively a pre-season. If the decision they’ve made is to go with Gio, then there’s a lot of work that needs to be done during this break.

There is a rush. A decision needs to be made one way or another. There is something missing at the moment, maybe they can rediscover it in this break.

They need to get the players back. They’ve got a long list of injuries to some really key players as well – Tom Lawrence and Connor Goldson in particular.

With the players now on a three week holiday the lack of direction and leadership suggests that van Bronckhorst is likely to remain in place until the club can come up with a package to get him out- and fund their third management team since Ange Postecoglou joined Celtic.
