Out of almost nowhere the agent for Sead Haksabanovic has popped up on Sky Sports News explaining his key role in the deal that saw the winger move from Rubin Kazan to Celtic in August.

Hazsabanovic isn’t involved in the World Cup Finals but with so much of the world’s media parked in Qatar for a month it is the place to be, seen and heard.

The Montenegro internationalist has made an instant impact at Celtic despite missing out on pre-season training. It had looked like Ange Postecoglou was fully stocked up on wingers with Liel Abada, Jota, Daizen Maeda and James Forrest signed up but Haksabanovic has played a crucial role in Celtic’s early season success, signing off with a priceless winner against Ross County to put the hoops nine points clear.

Listening in to Simon Conning on Sky Sports News this morning The Express reports the agent saying:

We worked hard last summer, my colleague and I, on a boy called Sead Haksabanovic. It was a difficult deal because he was a Russian club, Rubin Kazan, which as you could imagine wasn’t easy in the current climate.

We managed to get him out to Celtic for a low number of millions and he’s doing really well. He’s done well in the Champions League so far and we’re quite pleased with that work and I think Celtic fans will say they’re pleased with him as well.

It would be very naive to think that this was an act of charity from the agent or a favour to Celtic.

While it shows the hard work involved in completing an awkward transfer it also promotes the agent for future deals- or for anyone taking a shine to how the winger is performing at Celtic.

Postecoglou understands the game, reads the signs and knows what represents the best value for Celtic going forward.
