For many Ibrox fans Ross Wilson is as much to blame for the state of their club as Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The so-called transfer guru has brought in a glut of players over the last five transfer windows that have contributed next to nothing while adding to the medical bills.

Not one of the seven summer signings made it into the side for the Champions League tie at home to Napoli with James Sands the only starter that van Bronckhorst hadn’t inherited when he took over.

Giving Allan McGregor, Steve Davis and Scott Arfield new contracts in the summer didn’t seem very progressive while Wilson was unable to find any club willing to sign Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Filip Helander or Ryan Jack who are all out of contract in six months.

Beale knows all about those issues but speaking to Sky Sports he gave Wilson his full backing as The Sun reports:

I think he was the driver maybe of me coming back, along with other members of the board. They obviously saw the work I did here before, and I was moving towards being a manager.

They obviously saw something in me to invite me back and that gives me confidence to come in and do that. Me and Ross have always had a very positive relationship, we are almost like football nerds.

We watch all the games and know all the players. That won’t stop, we will work every day to move this club forward.

Beale can expect to be given a couple of loan players in January with the summer transfer surplus used to pay off Van Bronckhorst and compensate QPR.
