Celtic edged a goal further clear at the top of the SPFL Premiership thanks to a 4-0 win over Hibs at Easter Road tonight.

Mikey Beale’s side appeared to have the easier task on the last matchday of 2022 but could only beat Motherwell 3-0 while the champions were turning on the style in the capital.

Before the match Easter Road was being built up as some sort of bogey ground but first half goals from Aaron Mooy and Daizen Maeda killed that notion off.

Celtic were awarded their second SPFL penalty of the season in the 58th minute with Mooy stepping up to double his tally for the season.

Kyogo Furuhashi made in four in the 64th minute with the home side avoiding any further punishment.

Going into Monday’s match at Ibrox Celtic are nine points ahead at the top of the table and 20 better off in terms of goal difference.
