Craig Gordon injury update

Hearts have announced that Craig Gordon won’t play again this season.

The goalkeeper suffered a double leg break in a collision with Steven Fletcher during the Christmas Eve draw away to Dundee United.

Referee Colin Steven initially awarded a penalty to the home side but after a lengthy stoppage while Gordon was treated on the pitch he reversed his decision.

With the keeper turning 40 on Saturday there are concerns over whether he will play again but responding to the speculation Hearts announced:

Heart of Midlothian can confirm that Craig Gordon will miss the rest of the season after suffering a double leg break.

The club captain was injured during the Jambos’ 2-2 draw with Dundee United on Christmas Eve, showing typical bravery to get to a long ball first ahead of Steven Fletcher and stop a certain goalscoring opportunity.

The accidental collision between the two players resulted in Craig being stretched off with a fibula and tibia break. He has since had surgery and will be discharged from hospital in due course.

Zander Clark replaced Gordon on Saturday and is now ready to get an extended run in the Hearts team.
