Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Alistair Johnston is on Celtic’s transfer radar.
Reports from Canada suggest that as well as being on the radar a deal has virtually been wrapped up with Montreal CF to bring the right-back to Scotland when the January transfer window opens.
Postecoglou has brought in a new professionalism to Celtic’s transfer dealing, the usual end of January dash was demolished last year when three J-League signings were announced on December 31.
With Matt O’Riley signed up in the middle of January a momentum was established that drive the hoops to the SPFL title and a place in the Champions League group stage.
Johnston has impressed for Canada at the World Cup Finals in Qatar, asked about the right-back The Scotsman reports Postecoglou saying:
We’re looking at a number of players. We are looking to get stronger and he [Johnston] is definitely one of the players on our radar. Hopefully there will be some developments in the near future and he can add something to our football club.
Yesterday Celtic paraded Yuki Kobayashi who has signed a five year contract, it looks very likely that Johnston will be the next signing announced as Postecoglou continues with his forward planning.
