There was one incident that left fans, team-mates and management gasping at Easter Road last night. Fortunately Celtic TV was perfectly placed to capture it.
When Carl Starfelt rolled the ball out left to Daizen Maeda just inside the Hibs half there seemed to be no immediate danger, a minute earlier the winger had headed onto the crossbar when it seemed easier to score.
Undeterred Maeda set off down the wing, took advantage of Greg Taylor taking out two Hibs defenders then cut inside to fire an unstoppable shot beyond David Marshall to put the visitors 2-0 in front.
After the break there was the rarity of Celtic scoring from a penalty followed by some great skill and finishing from Kyogo Furuhashi to complete the scoring.
Hibs were fortunate to get away with just losing four goals, 2022 may be over but going into the new year opponents know that We Never Stop when they face Ange Postecoglou’s side.
