The Herald has binned any pretentions to be a serious publisher with a hilarious take on today’s World Cup Final.
With dozens of secondary storylines alongside the obvious Messi tale the Glasgow based publisher almost turned parody as they picked up on one of Alex McLeish’s great near-misses.
According to his own recollections the former Ibrox boss was the first person to pick up on Messi’s ability to play football, unfortunately there is no record of how his request to take him on loan to Ibrox was received by Barcelona.
It seems that no progress was made with Barca or the great man himself about playing in the hole between Gavin Rae and Kris Boyd.

Messi did get to play at Ibrox in 2007 against the might of Walter Smith’s bus parkers, fortunately he has other footballing memories of Glasgow and Scotland.
The Messi story that @Herald_Sport_ won’t be touching.
