Members of Club 1872 have voted against the re-election of Douglas Park as a Director of RIFC with the motoring tycoon currently chairman of the Tribute Act.

Around 6.000 loyal bears make monthly contributions to the fan group which currently has 5.14% of shares in the club, less than half of the holding they reached in 2017 when they helped buy out Sports Direct by paying 27p per share to Mike Ashley’s firm.

Future share issues have diluted their holding but with Dave King voting against Park with his 14.61% stake the Ibrox rebels could be close to the 25% needed to block the re-election of the Lanarkshire businessman.

While King has a number of media contacts ready to spread his message Park hasn’t given a single interview since becoming chairman in March 2020.

After balloting their members on the AGM resolutions, at lunchtime Club 1872 announced:

2. To reappoint Douglas Park as a Director of the Company.

For – 28.83%

Against – 64.31%

Abstain – 6.85%

3. To reappoint Julian Wolhardt as a Director of the Company.

For – 66.94%

Against – 24.60%

Abstain – 8.47%

4. To reappoint George Taylor as a Director of the Company.

For – 70.77%

Against – 21.98%

Abstain – 7.26%

Tomorrow’s AGM is likely to pass off relatively quietly with the online fans making noise likely to opt for dignity and respect when the board line up on stage led by the great new hope that is Micky Beale.
