SFA give Nick Walsh Ibrox overtime

Nick Walsh will be in charge of the Ibrox Tribute Act when they host Hibs on Thursday night.

This will be the third successive time that the Bearsden PE teacher will be in charge for a visit to Ibrox for Hibs. Thursday will be the 16th SPFL fixture of the season, Walsh will be refereeing the Ibrox side for the fifth time.

So far this season 16 different referees have taken charge of Premiership matches, it seems like overkill having the same man in charge of almost a third of those games, his previous fixtures were away to Celtic in September plus home matches against St Johnstone, St Mirren and Aberdeen.

With no club asking questions of the SFA, Crawford Allan knows that he can make any appointment that suits him without being challenged.

Last October Walsh gave Ryan Porteous a first half red card at Ibrox with the homeside overturning a 1-0 deficit to take full points. Walsh also sent Porteous off against the Ibrox club during a 3-0 defeat at Easter Road in December 2019.

During office hours on Thursday Walsh will be working on the fitness of Murray Park starlets at Boclair High School before switching location to Ibrox for his evening fee.
