SFA put ‘rusty’ referee in charge of Celtic v Livingston

Euan Anderson will come out of cold storage to referee Wednesday’s match between Celtic and Livingston.

The Clydebank school teacher hasn’t taken charge of any sort of match since the draw between St Mirren and St Johnstone on November 9 when he dished out seven yellow cards and sent off Alex Mitchell from the Perth side.

It seems strange that Anderson didn’t referee any lower division matches during the Premiership shut down but on Wednesday night he’ll be in charge of Celtic for the second time this season with his other match being the 2-1 win away to St Johnstone in October.

Anderson is one of the SFA’s VAR trained officials, Steven Kirkland will be on VAR duty on Wednesday with Celtic hoping to avoid conceding a hat-trick of home penalties after Dundee United and Ross County scored from the spot.

Last season Anderson refereed five Celtic matches including the 1-0 defeat at Livingston in September, since then Ange Postecoglou’s side have only lost once in the SPFL Premiership.
