Ange Postecoglou has picked out February 2 as the pivotal day of 2022, without the 3-0 success in the Glasgow Derby it is debatable how much more would have followed.

Celtic entered 2022 with optimism but a six point deficit was a lot to make up for a squad that was very much evolving, evolving from the bare bones that he had inherited in June 2021.

With no away fans, just a month after another lockdown, Celtic Park was sizzling with the gap between the Glasgow sides reduced to just two points after the January signings had hit the ground running, Daizen Maeda was so keen to be involved that he flew home and took a place on the bench the day after playing in Japan in a World Cup qualifier.

Angeball delivered- for 45 minutes the play on the pitch complimented the passion and backing from all sides of the stadium. January signing Reo Hatate scored twice, Liel Abada scored a third, Celtic haven’t looked back with the title won and a nine point lead established for this season.

It was an important fixture because on the night it was the first time we hit the top. There was a lot of hype around the game, it was a fixture eagerly anticipated by our supporters with a full house again.

With everything that was on the line that night it was important in the context of belief amongst the playing group and supporters that what we were hoping was going to eventuate was potentially coming a reality.

You want to give your supporters stuff they remember and that night in particular our supporters will remember beyond the length of time a season takes.
