Growing up as an English kid Charlie McCann was aware of his Irish ancestry.
At u-17 he was good enough to play for the Republic of Ireland and continued to play for them at u-19 but as his Manchester United Academy career stalled he had an offer from a club in Glasgow but there was a small problem to be negotiated.
In the summer of 2021 he signed for the Tribute Act formed just nine years earlier by Charles Green, recruited by transfer guru Ross Wilson.
Not only did McCann get a new club he also found a different nationality, getting called up by the u-21 side of the Six Counties in March 2022.
Charlie McCann played for Ireland up until U18 level
He then switched to Northern Ireland and moved to Rangers
He scored an own goal today vs Celtic

Club football isn’t working out well for McCann, Micky Beale seems to have more faith in Alex Lowry leaving McCann to stew in the Lowland League, the fifth tier of Scottish football.
After yesterday’s performance, being part of a side that shipped in four goals in 15 minutes after being 2-1 up to Celtic it is unlikely that the former Manchester United starlet will be getting much encouragement off his new gaffer at Ibrox.
