Ange Postecoglou gives timeline for Giakoumakis resolution

Ange Postecoglou wasn’t giving much away about the future of Giorgos Giakoumakis.

For the third match running the striker was missing from the Celtic squad, with Oh Hyeon-gyu making his debut Giakoumakis is fast drifting further and further out of the picture at Celtic.

Urawa Red Diamonds are reported to have agreed terms with Celtic and even put the striker through a medical but there have been reports over the last 48 ours of Atlanta United coming back in with an offer to pay a transfer fee rather than take Giakoumakis on loan

Asked about the situation with the Greek striker on Sky Sports, The Express reports Postecoglou saying:

It’s still a bit of uncertainty around it. There’s a couple of things in play. It will all get resolved in the next couple of days and hopefully to the satisfaction of all parties.

Postecoglou appears to have moved on from having Giakoumakis as his back-up striker, his trust in Oh looks well placed with the new bhoy looking very comfortable within the Celtic framework in a 15 minute appearance at Tannadice.

The J-League and MSL transfer windows both run into April but a quick decision on the future of Giakoumakis would seem to suit all involved.
