Ange Postecoglou has refused to give any encouragement to speculation that Oh Hyeon-gyu is about to become a Celtic player.

Over the last 48 hours it has been reported from Korea that Suwon Bluewings are deep in negotiations to sell their striker with Football Scotland going as far as to claim that Oh is undergoing a medical today.

It appears that the Korean’s arrival is timed with the departure of Giorgos Giakoumakis who has missed two Celtic matches since scoring against Kilmarnock a week ago in the Viaplay Cup semi-final at Hampden.

Before today’s 5-0 win over Morton Postecoglou nodded towards developments with Giakoumakis but afterwards he was reluctant to discuss speculation about Oh.

The Sun reports:

Celtic look set to wrap up a £2.5 million deal for South Korean striker Oh Hyeon-gyu.

Reports over there have claimed the 21-year-old’s been granted the chance to join the Hoops by Suwon Samsung Bluewings and is close to travelling to the UK for a medical.

Asked to confirm interest – with crocked frontman Giorgos Giakoumakis poised to exit with Urawa Red Diamonds leading the chase – the Celts boss said: “No but we are progressing things and there is only a week to go whilst we continue this weekly dance we do. Everything will happen in the next couple of days hopefully.”

Postecoglou will be spared any media commitments until Friday when he has to preview the SPFL match away to Dundee United.

The transfer frenzy will continue for another 10 days with social media being scanned for developments.
