Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Rocco Vata is facing a spell on the sidelines, ruling him out of tomorrow’s Scottish Cup tie at home to Morton.

The teenager made a 10 minute appearance as a substitute away to Hibs last month and followed that up with a goal in the Lowland League Glasgow derby.

Vata scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the Premier League International Cup win over Wolves in midweek but had to be substituted after 29 minutes.

A home cup tie against lower division opponents would have appeared the ideal time to give the Irish youth internationalist further game time but Vata will need to watch tomorrow’s match from the stand.

Is tomorrow’s game the type of match in which we could see youth players get a chance?

As I have said before, opportunities are earned and nothing is given. If one of the players from the B team gets an opportunity, it is because they have earned it, not because I feel they need to be given time.

Bosun Lawal and Rocco Vata have been involved in and around the first team for quite a while now. Unfortunately, Rocco Vata has picked up a little bit of an injury so he will be out for a little while.

With Yuki Kobayashi and Stephen Welsh involved in the midweek win over St Mirren, and Moritz Jenz in the squad it is unlikely that Lawal will be involved in tomorrow’s match.

Tomorrow in the Lowland League Celtic face joint leaders Tranent at Airdrie’s stadium, Celtic B are three points behind Tranent with two games in hand.
