Blankety Blank as Ref Watch on Sky Sports News focus on Sakala but ignore Goldson handball

Sky Sports opted out of running Connor Goldson’s handball from Monday’s Glasgow derby past Dermot Gallagher.

The former EPL referee has a regular slot on Sky Sports News to review contentious refereeing issues with 30 minutes set aside this morning to go through various incidents from midweek matches.

As usual the EPL was examined in incredible detail including Everton getting awarded a late penalty in their 4-1 hammering from Brighton.

Scottish football as usual was left till last with Gallagher in no doubt that John Beaton got it right to award a penalty against Carl Starfelt. Apparently a defender that goes to ground in the penalty box has to take the ball or a penalty is awarded.

That will be news to a lot of players, Sky opted out of showing Sakala laughing and celebrating the decision from the man from Bellshill.

It seemed logical to follow that up with the Goldson handball- wrong. Next up it was over to Livingston and a penalty awarded against Motherwell.

On Sunday Sky will have a double header of Scottish football, showing Motherwell v Hibs followed by Dundee United taking on Micky Beale’s team.
