Celtic have been credited with an interest in Sean Moore.

The 17-year-old winger has been impressing with Cliftonville which inevitably leads to speculation that he will be on the move to Scotland or England.

Celtic’s recent track record in signing young prospects is pretty bleak with Jonny Kenny going on loan to Shamrock Rovers after an unsuccessful spell at Queens Park following last January’s move from Sligo Rovers.

Playing for Celtic B in the Lowland League isn’t a higher standard that the Irish League although full-time training at Lennoxtown would be an incentive.

At 17.30 on Friday in their Transfer blog the Daily Record reported:

Celtic have been watching Cliftonville winger Sean Moore. The teenage winger has made a big impact with the Belfast club.

The 17-year-old has already made his mark with the Irish Premiership leaders. That has alerted the Hoops who have joined a number of English Premier League clubs in watching him.

Moore has also represented Northern Ireland at under-18 level and is tipped for big things.

Celtic are currently playing in the Lowland League on a week to week basis, this season that group of players has also featured in the UEFA Youth League.

Finding a route from youth football into the Celtic first team is becoming increasingly difficult but it is one that the club is clearly continuing to explore.

Moore is also wanted by the Football Association of Ireland for their international set up.
