Union Berlin are reported to be in talks with Celtic to sign Josip Juranovic.

The defender has been the subject of intense speculation since impressing at the World Cup Finals which brought links to Chelsea and Manchester United.

Those reports failed to firm up with Italian strugglers Monza the most recent club linked with the defender until Fabrizio Romano tweeted tonight:

Almost as soon as Canada’s interest in the World Cup was over Celtic signed Alistair Johnston who has appeared in three of the four matches played since the transfer window opened.

Celtic only paid £2.5m to sign Juranovic from Legia Warsaw in August 2021 with the Polish side likely to be on a cut of any profit.

Tony Ralston alternated with Juranovic for much of last season but it was the Croatian who started all six of Celtic’s Champions League matches.
