On Radio Scotland and In his BBC website report Tom English referenced the foul song book from the Celtic fans during the 2-0 win over Kilmarnock at Hampden.

It seems that the chief sports writer for BBC Scotland had the earplugs on at Hampden today as ‘Hello Hell We Are The Billy Boys’ was heard at the start of the match followed by the usual hatred of Catholics.

It wasn’t anything of note for English, it seems that he was on a one day crusade for the benefit of his employer.

Around 9pm tonight, more than three hours after the final whistle the BBC website was treated to a flowery, reflective match report from the former chief sports reporter at Scotland on Sunday.

With more than three hours of chin stroking English seems to have completely missed the punch landed on Liam Scales by Ryan Kent. Without having seen it again the BBC staffer is kinda surprised that the Aberdeen manager never mentioned the incident in his post match media interviews.

He was able to detail bookings for Borna Barisic and Matty Kennedy, Anthony Stewart’s red card but suddenly halted his list of crude incidents when it came to the former Liverpool starlet getting away with one.

Other than a certain lady in Gorgie English has no contacts within football, relying on Twitter to keep him posted on what is going on and gossip.

Twitter was full of replays on the incident between Kent and Scales, keen to check on the feedback English replied to a tweet that he hadn’t seen the punch from Kent.

Next weekend BBC Scotland will have something of a rarity, two second choice live Scottish Cup ties covering Celtic v Morton and Darvel v Aberdeen.
