Micky Beale is set to miss out on signing Tom Davies as his Ibrox Revolution stalls at the first hurdle- money.

Last Friday the new Ibrox boss spoke enthusiastic about rounds of transfer talks, looking into the eyes of prospective signings to see if they could follow in the footsteps of Scott Wright, Rabbi Matondo, John Souttar, Ridvan Yilmaz, Ianis Hagi and Aaron Ramsey.

Ross Wilson was given the task of getting the new players signed up in time to face Aberdeen on Sunday but without a pot the transfer guru has been unable to deliver.

Davies is out of favour at Everton and out of contract in the summer but matching his Goodison wages while funding a transfer fee is beyond the Ibrox wheeler dealers.

Football Insider claims:

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that there has been no contact between Everton and Rangers over Davies and that Frank Lampard is set to keep hold of the midfielder following the recent injury to Alex Iwobi.

Davies has started four EPL matches this season and made five appearances off the bench.

It is believed that contract talks with Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield will begin early next month as reality dawns.
