There wasn’t much doubt about who was Celtic’s best player at Ibrox yesterday.

Cameron Carter-Vickers took the award by a distance, head and shoulders above any of his team-mates as he held the Celtic defence together.

Carl Starfelt was hesitant and uncomfortable, evidenced by his lunge towards Fashion Sakala that resulted in a penalty. Contact is debatable, the desperation in his challenge was obvious.

Substitute Josip Juranovic looked well short of fitness out on the left, making it four right-footed players in a very lop-side back four.

Fortunately debutant Alistair Johnston required minimal supervision leaving CCV to do what he does best. Just ask Scott Wright and Ryan Jack.

Despite having his jersey held by Wright the Celtic defender stood his ground, winning the ball against Ryan Jack while keeping Wright at bay.

Fortunately in this case John Beaton called it right with a free kick for Celtic, fortunately for Celtic their USA internationalist never flinched during 90 plus minutes.
