Moritz Jenz has left Celtic, cutting short his season long loan.

The defender hasn’t featured in Ange Postecoglou’s side since before the World Cup break and was left out of the matchday squads against St Mirren and Morton.

VideoCelts understands that terms were agreed last night for the defender to leave and explore other loan options with Germany his likely destination.

With Carl Starfelt out injured Jenz was brought in on loan from Lorient, when Stephen Welsh was out through injury the German got his chance in the second SPFL match of the season, getting on the score-sheet at Aberdeen.

Jenz partnered Cameron Carter-Vickers, Welsh and Starfelt while playing in all six Champions League matches but the Swede has re-established his partnership in central defence.

With Yuki Kobayashi signing on a five year contract all parties have decided that it is best for Jenz to move on elsewhere.

This is Ange showing his ruthless streak. All top managers have to be this as it lets everyone know that he will not tolerate complacency or players that don’t quite fit what he is trying to achieve.
This is exactly what our club needs: decisive action taken quickly.
It will send a message to the rest of the squad and, along with other exits, allow for a transition of the team.

I’m not surprised, he was never that great, good enough fir the Scottish game but not the CL. I blame him for Real’s first goal at CP where he just pulled out of his defensive run allowing the cross to be put in – that was it for me, I felt from then he wouldn’t be here past his loan spell.. didn’t expect him to be gone so quickly though! Ah well, c’est la vie…
