Alex Lowry is believed to be close to moving on loan to Ross County.

The midfielder is the latest over-hyped starlet from Murray Park to find out that in the real world he isn’t quite the world beater he has been made out to be. Lewis MacLeod and Rhys McCabe are other examples.

Despite all the warm soothing words of Micky Beale it has been made quite clear that there is no space in the Ibrox squad for Lowry, with Ianis Hagi and Tom Lawrence on the way back from injury opportunities will be even more limited.

Lowry made a scoring debut against Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup a year ago but finds himself behind John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Steve Davis, Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield for a first team place.

Even with Davis out injured for the season there isn’t much prospect of first team time for Lowry even though the moonbeam signings of Todd Cantwell and Tom Davies haven’t made any progress.
