Neil Lennon’s surprise Celtic claim

Neil Lennon hasn’t ruled out rejoining Celtic.

The Irishman had two spells as manager, both starting off as a caretaker before being made permanent under Peter Lawwell.

Away from Celtic Lennon has had undistinguished spells in charge of Hibs, Bolton and Omonia Nicosia where he was in charge for just seven months including the close season.

After Lennon resigned as manager in February 2021 it took Celtic 106 days to appoint Ange Postecoglou who has transformed the whole club.

Lennon’s next move is difficult to guess but speaking to Football Odds the Daily Record reports the Irishman saying:

I’ve had a great privilege to manage Celtic over six years in two different stints, but at the minute, Ange Postecoglou is a great manager who is doing a great job. I’ll never say never to re-joining Celtic, but at the moment it’s a long way off.

Ange Postecoglou does not need any advice at the moment with the job he’s doing. He’ll be looking at improving the team, performances and his own personal record. The football they play is spectacular, they have a great mentality as shown in the Old Firm where they got a goal out of nothing.

Postecoglou is on a rolling 12 month contract, the same sort of contract that all recent Celtic managers have had other than Brendan Rodgers who left less than halfway into a four year contract.

After that 106 day wait to appoint Postecoglou the Celtic board will be hoping that their current manager is in for the long haul.
