As is their custom the club from Ibrox are attempting to push through transfers with little regard to the clubs that players are contracted to.

Last season Hearts resisted the media pressure to allow John Souttar to make a dream move to Ibrox when a fee of £250,000 in one payment would probably have secured the move.

Last night Norwich were happy to offload Todd Cantwell as Ross Wilson completed his first transfer deal to take the pressure away from the Ibrox board.

At Friday’s media conference Micky Beale discussed the life-story of Nicolas Raskin with the Standard Liege midfielder out of contract in the summer.

All sorts of claims have been made about talks with the player but with a week left in the transfer window no contact has been made with his club as the Daily Record confirmed:

Ibrox boss Michael Beale confessed last week he was interested in the Liege playmaker and Rangers are understood to be leading the chase as they eye up an initial move on a pre-contract. But while a number of other clubs have been in touch with Standard to express their interest in taking Raskin this month, Record Sport understands the Jupiler Pro League outfit have so far had no direct contact from Gers chiefs.

A token offer on January 31 is expected followed by the usual lines about not being held to ransom and denying the player his dream move

Similar tactics are being used on Morgan Whittaker of Swansea but a contract running until May 2025 makes that move seem less likely.
