Todd Cantwell has been told that he is free to negotiate a deal elsewhere by David Wagner.

The new Norwich boss has no plans for the 24-year-old who hasn’t played since making a couple of substitute appearances at the start of November.

It is believed that Micky Beale spent part of last week looking deep into the eyes of Cantwell who he has followed since he was an Academy coach at Liverpool.

Wagner’s task is to gain Norwich promotion for the third time in five years, something he’ll be doing without the one time England u-21 starlet.

Asked about the out of favour midfielder, the new Norwich boss told The Sun:

It’s no secret. He isn’t part of the plans moving forwards. He is speaking to clubs. It would not be right at this point to be involved.

All that stands between Cantwell and world class training sessions at Murray Park is a transfer fee, signing on fee and a substantial contract similar to the terms that Kemar Roofe and John Lundstram are on.

Kenny McLean has started 21 Championship matches for Norwich, Cantwell just nine.
