According to a report in the Daily Record Oh Hyeon-gyu is in Glasgow and has visited Lennoxtown to meet his new team-mates.

The striker has been strongly linked with a move to Celtic with the hoops looking to bring in a striker while Giorgos Giakoumakis prepares to move on.

With a week to go in the transfer window clubs are stepping up their negotiations with Celtic appearing to be ahead of the curve in getting their business completed.

Scott Burns of the Daily Record reports:

South Korea striker Oh has confirmed he has “verbally agreed” a deal with the Scottish Premiership champions. Celtic have already agreed a deal which could be potentially worth around £2.5million to Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

Hyeon-Gyu is in Glasgow as he waits for the deal to be completed and the work visa and paperwork put in place for his switch. The 21-year-old has already been at Celtic’s training ground to meet his new teammates and staff.

Oh travelled to the World Cup Finals in Qatar as a back-up but never made it onto the 26 man squad registered with FIFA.

Replacing Giakoumakis is a big task to fill for a 21-year-old moving from a different continent but it seems that Celtic have prepared the ground with a transfer first suggested in mid-December.

Against Morton on Saturday Tomoki Iwata became the sixth Japanese player to make his Celtic debut under Ange Postecoglou with the Celtic boss keen to recruit from outwith the usual transfer markets.
