After a frenzy of reports and speculation over the weekend, things have gone very quiet today on the Giorgos Giakoumakis front.
Due to the time zones involved with Urawa Red Diamonds and Atlanta United there is score for developments at any time of the day with the added boost of airport pictures of the striker surfacing on social media.
At Dundee United yesterday Ange Postecoglou expected things to be decided over the next couple of days but on Monday morning there hasn’t been any reported developments.
While Europe gets worked up into a frenzy ahead of tomorrow night there is no urgency on either deal, in both the MLS and the J-League the transfer window stays open until April, this is effectively their pre-season.
After a month in limbo it would clearly be in the players interest to have his future settled but on Wednesday morning Giakoumakis could still be a Celtic player.
Oh Hyeon-gyu’s 13 minute appearance away to Dundee United suggests that the Korean isn’t far away from being match ready, after Wednesday’s match at home to Livingston Celtic are spared midweek fixtures which eases the pressure on top scorer Kyogo Furuhashi.
