Tomoki Iwata arrived in Glasgow last night and is expected to watch today’s match at home to Kilmarnock.

Celtic announced the signing of the midfielder on December 30 as Ange Postecoglou made another raid on his former club Yokohama F Marinos.

The deal is initially on loan but there is an obligation to buy in the summer which will make Iwata Celtic’s sixth J-League signing in 18 months.

With the J-League finishing before the World Cup Finals Iwata is well rested and prepared for his move to Celtic with the club’s medical team ready to put him through a programme to get him ready for action.

Next Saturday’s League Cup semi-final against Kilmarnock looks like coming too early with the Scottish Cup tie at home to Morton on January 21 a more obvious opportunity to play.

With David Turnbull available after suspension Postecoglou will have five strong options for three midfield places today with new bhoy Iwata having a tough task to battle his way into the Starting XI.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
