It was the simplicity of the goal that made it so eye-catching.

After a few passes around the halfway line Reo Hatate spotted a space, pinged through a pass and with one touch Kyogo Furuhashi took out the whole St Mirren defence to put Celtic 2-0 up on route to another three points.

Instinct was stamped all over it. Hatate and Kyogo understood each other but there was virtually no margin for error as the striker took his touch, from 10 yards out he flicked his shot over the onrushing goalkeeper with the ball falling just under the crossbar.

With that the prospects of St Mirren repeating their early season win were virtually over.

Another piece of opportunism put Celtic 3-0 up early in the second half before a late strike from David Turnbull completed the scoring.

After playing each side home and away Celtic are nine points clear at the top with 20 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat to date.

Was behind the goal for Kyogo’s lob: thought he had left it too late to score,

but what instinct to bring the ball down just under the bar.

    Great goal.
