Nick Walsh wasn’t slow to issue Anthony Stewart of Aberdeen with a red card for a wild lunge at Fashion Sakala in the third minute of added time in today’s Viaplay Cup semi-final at Hampden.

It was a senseless lunge from the Aberdeen skipper a 50-50 red card shout, with Walsh in charge there was no surprise that Stewart was sent off.

Soon afterwards Ryan Kent lashed out with both arms at Liam Scales just outside the centre circle.

Walsh decided to ignore it with VAR Alan Muir doing the same to ensure that Micky Beale’s side had a one man advantage going into extra-time.

Substitute Kemar Roofe scored in extra-time then went off injured with what appeared to be a dislocated shoulder, the former Leeds striker was making his fourth appearance of the season, all coming off the bench.

Today was the sixth time in 24 domestic matches that Walsh has been in charge of the Ibrox club, tomorrow he will be back at work at Boclair Academy, planning fitness programmes for the Murray Park starlets.
