Alf attack- Jealous Boyd puts the boot into Morelos

At the start of the season Kris Boyd was telling the world how Alfredo Morelos was a better player than Jota.

That prediction lasted as long as his claims about Aaron Ramsey being the first real footballer in Scotland since Paul Gascoigne.

Morelos’ form has been so bad that there wasn’t a single offer to sign him during the January transfer window- again- with Boyd doing a sharp u-turn on Alf.

Something seems to have got under the skin of the former Kilmarnock striker who has opted to compare Morelos’ goal return with his own!

In The Sun Boyd explains:

On closer inspection, Morelos’ domestic scoring record is not much to shout about.

In the Premiership, there has been only one campaign — his second in Scotland — when he hit more than 15 goals.

He has been at Rangers for six years, and in that period they have won just two trophies.

Yes, their runs in Europe should be applauded, and Morelos does deserve a huge amount of credit for the part he played in those. But Gers’ bread and butter is the league — it always was and always will be.

In the Premiership, Morelos’ tallies have been 14, 18, 12, 12, 11 and nine so far this season.

Antonio Colak helped himself to 11 goals inside three months after joining last summer.

In my time at Ibrox, my league totals were 17 from 17 appearances in 2006, 20 from 32, 14 from 28, 27 from 35, and 23 from 31.

Playing in the Championship in season 2014/15 Boyd scored 3 goals in 29 appearances.

To be fair to Morelos he is playing alongside team-mates that have full Income Tax and National Insurance deducted from their salaries unlike Boyd and his pals back in the days of disguised remuneration.

On closer inspection ? The same goals tally that made him the best player in the country. Contradicts himself by the week. The people who give the likes of him a platform should hang their heads in shame.
