Timing is everything.

For more than a week Micky Beale basked on the glory of slagging off Chris Sutton.

The Gullible & Deluded lapped it up, the former Chelsea striker is number one on a lengthy hate list of media pundits that don’t toe the party line, that dare to question the spin that pours out of Ibrox and is swallowed hook line and sinker by the obedient messengers.

Sutton popped a few attacks back at Beale- mainly about a playing career that even Google struggles to locate.

In the build up to the Viaplay Cup Final Beale did everything to bundle both clubs together, going as far as to claim that there was a mutual respect between the two managers.

After 40 years of media neglect the rookie Ibrox boss has been basking in the attention of reflected glory of working in the same city as Celtic- the most successful club in Scotland this century by a mile.

Beale raised the white flag at 1.45pm when his team was announced without Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin.

The Ibrox boss reverted back to players signed by Steven Gerrard with the exception of Ben Davies and Malik Tillman.

It remains to be seen if Beale knows how to keep a low profile- every time he speaks out he can anticipate more responses from Sutton who will still be in the Scottish media long after Beale has returned south to join Mark Warburton and Graeme Murty to have failed to halt Celtic.

When he does find the courage Beale can explain why January signings Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin were left out of the starting side- with serial losers John Lundstram and Glen Kamara in from the kick-off.

Next up the Ibrox boss can try humouring the Union Bears having delivered one trophy in 10 attempts while on the pay roll.
