The SFA have admitted that top referees Willie Collum and Nick Walsh got it wrong when they sent off Nicky Clark at Ibrox on Saturday.

The St Johnstone striker was pushed into a routine challenge with Ryan Kent that left the Ibrox midfielder rolling around the ground squealing.

After a 40 second delay the normally instinctive Collum reached for his red card leaving St Johnstone to play for 54 minutes with 10 men.

VAR Walsh could have suggested that his colleague takes a look at the pitch-side monitor but didn’t feel that any error had been made. Walsh will referee tonight’s Celtic v Livingston match, his fourth Celtic Park appointment from 12 Premiership fixtures.

A few minutes after sending off Clark Collum did check the pitch-side monitor but decided to stick with his decision to only book Jack for his brutal attack on Adam Montgomery.

With less than one day’s notice Clark can be included in Callum Davidson’s plans for tonight’s match at Motherwell, Collum is the favourite to referee the Viaplay Cup Final on February 26.

What should the SFA do with Nick Walsh?

So two of our top referees, one with access to multiple TV screens, got a decision wrong.
This isn’t a VAR issue but either an incompetence or bias issue.
Ironically The Rangers get to play 54 minutes against ten men but the player now gets to play against Celtic on Sunday.

Clark’s 2 match ban being rescinded means he’s now free to line up V Celtic at the weekend.

i thought VAR was to ensure that big – potentially match-changing – referee decisions are correct?

If all goals scored are checked by VAR automatically,

then why are red cards not automatically checked by VAR & the ref as well?

It seems that The Scottish Referees’ Association doesn’t have a ‘VAR Manual’ to ensure referees are consistent and thorough in their use of VAR?

Collum is a Buffoon and should be dropped out of Refereeing altogether he thinks its the Willie Collum show every game he is incharge of. He gave a penalty against Celtic for Rangers with his back to the play because he said he heard it!!! According to the laws of the game a Ref must be 100% sure it is a penalty and has to have a clear view of the incident. The man is a liability to any team he oversees. Time SFA sorts this out. Even teams in Europe where going to lynch him when he covered a Champions League game and asked that he never cover another European game again.

Perhaps Walsh doesn’t travel well. But he doesn’t seem to travel at all! He picks up an awful lot of his Referee/VAR appointments in and around his home near Glasgow.
Easy money, perhaps for the PE Teacher from Bearsden?

I thought var was there to help refs to come to the correct decision so far the refs are getting more wrong than right I believe our refs should be more sensitive about matches as there poor decisions could get a team related
