Collum got it wrong- even the SFA slam whistler as they overturn Clark red card at Ibrox

The SFA have admitted that top referees Willie Collum and Nick Walsh got it wrong when they sent off Nicky Clark at Ibrox on Saturday.

The St Johnstone striker was pushed into a routine challenge with Ryan Kent that left the Ibrox midfielder rolling around the ground squealing.

After a 40 second delay the normally instinctive Collum reached for his red card leaving St Johnstone to play for 54 minutes with 10 men.

VAR Walsh could have suggested that his colleague takes a look at the pitch-side monitor but didn’t feel that any error had been made. Walsh will referee tonight’s Celtic v Livingston match, his fourth Celtic Park appointment from 12 Premiership fixtures.

A few minutes after sending off Clark Collum did check the pitch-side monitor but decided to stick with his decision to only book Jack for his brutal attack on Adam Montgomery.

With less than one day’s notice Clark can be included in Callum Davidson’s plans for tonight’s match at Motherwell, Collum is the favourite to referee the Viaplay Cup Final on February 26.

What should the SFA do with Nick Walsh?

Carry on Nick, everyone is allowed honest mistakes

Demote him to the Lowland League, learn from his mistakes

Sack him, he is incapable of applying the Laws of the Game
