He talks a helluva game- Chris Sutton has fresh attack on quotes machine Beale

Chris Sutton has taken another pop at the quotes machine that is Michael Beale.

Not only does the Ibrox boss want to discuss in detail the financial aspects of the SPFL champions but he also describes their manager as lucky.

Not many would describe inheriting a broken squad that had finished the previous season 25 points behind as lucky.

It’s hardly lucky to discover that most of the decent players you inherited want to move to English football with Kris Ajer, Odsonne Edouard, Olivier Ntcham and Ryan Christie bailing out.

Ange Postecoglou had to face all that and more, he finished 2021 trailing by six points in the SPFL title but turned it round with a four point winning margin.

Beale has trivialised those achievements, delivering success to the biggest support in Scotland with Football Scotland picking up on Sutton’s comments about the Ibrox boss on BT Sport:

They’re trying to have a pop at Celtic because they have the biggest budget, but Celtic are the biggest club in Scotland with the biggest fan base. I just think with Michael Beale, he’ll eat himself really. He talks a hell of a game.

Ange Postecoglou has had a brilliant coaching career. I don’t really understand. I think it will be frowned upon within the game when he’s having a pop at a guy who has been a great builder of clubs.

He should keep his head down as Martin O’Neill did when he first went north of the border. First season, always Rangers were the benchmark.

Michael Beale has to back it up. I was surprised at his comments, especially after the way he left QPR under a huge cloud.

If it goes wrong for loyal Beale he might struggle to find a board trusting him as much as QPR did.
