After Saturday’s win at home to St Johnstone Micky Beale mentioned the three or four transfer targets that he was hoping to sign.

In the first week in January he had looked into the eyes of the players to ensure that they had the right character required for the second best team in Scotland.

Beale specifically hinted at signing defensive players, smirking that no-one in the media had picked up on that, unfortunately for the rookie Ibrox boss neither did transfer guru Ross Wilson who has added another two midfielders to the payroll.

With John Lundstram, Glen Kamara, James Sands, Steve Davis, Ryan Jack, Malik Tillman and Ianis Hagi already at the club Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin have their work cut out to get involved.

Starlet Alex Lowry will soon discover why Charlie McCann left for the bright lights of Forest Green Rovers.

On Saturday BBC Scotland reported Beale saying:

We’re busy in the background. I’ve spoken a lot today about the final third being quite loaded, no-one has really took the scent that I’m saying the other end of the pitch might be where we strengthen.

There’s three or four more we’re speaking to and if the deal is right now, we’re going to get it done. If the deal is not right, we’ll move to the summer – with the contract situation, it opens up space in the squad.

Beale’s next information bulletin will be with Sky Sports and the BBC before tonight’s match away to Hearts.

£881 thousand for Raskin at the third attempt ! What sort of low ball , cheap offer was made initially ?The SMSM are punting the deal as £1.75 million which is with multiple heavy add on’s ! They also are intimating that this player is the greatest thing since bubblegum …. And they wonder why hardly anyone buys newspapers any more !

What do you expect they are skint, they cannot make a deal for a good player so it is bargain basement players plus bullying
