Ange Postecoglou has played down concerns over an injury to Callum McGregor.

In the early stages of last night’s win over Livingston the hoops skipper suffered a nose injury that drew blood, required treatment on the pitch and required him to go off for a change of shorts.

One of the medical experts in the media centre suggested that McGregor might have suffered a broken nose but his manager was quick to play down that fear.

Postecoglou told The Sun:

I worry about all of them, mate – I love them all the same and I don’t want any of them to get hurt.

We realised fairly early that he’d got a bang on the nose and there was a bit of blood coming out but it was nothing to worry about, he was fine.

I don’t know if it’s broken, I wouldn’t ask him but if it was he would be there tomorrow for training, no problem.

A year ago today McGregor pulled on a facemask to lead his side to a 3-0 victory in the Glasgow derby that took Celtic to the top of the SPFL Premiership- a place that they have occupied ever since.

McGregor wore the mask for the rest of the season, into June on international duty, after suffering a cheekbone injury in the Scottish Cup at Alloa.

Last night he was his usual influential self until being replaced by Tomoki Iwata in the 85th minute.
