After playing in a total of 59 minutes across two matches in Croatia’s World Cup qualifying campaign Antonio Colak has been discussing his Qatar heart-break.
The former Malmo ace has made three international appearances spanning 83 minutes and appears shocked to have missed out on the World Cup squad.
Croatia had riches in defence and midfield and an inspired goalkeeper in Dominik Livakovic but struggled in front of goal as they battled their way through to a semi-final defeat from Argentina.
Speaking to the Daily Record, 28-year-old Colak revealed:
It was very, very frustrating to miss out. He (coach, Zlatko Dalic) didn’t phone me. I found out on the live stream on the TV when they made the public announcement. I don’t want to comment more on that.
Look, I am happy for Croatia for what they achieved for such a small country. To get another medal is unbelievable success and great work. I watched Borna and the other players do so well and they are all friends of mine, so I was happy for them.
Colak is currently second choice striker at Ibrox, behind born-again Alfredo Morelos for a place in Micky Beale’s side. Colak has scored one goal since October 9.
