It took just over a minute for Ange Postecoglou to be asked his thoughts on Micky Beale’s thoughts at Hampden today!

Anyone attending a media conference with the Celtic boss really should know by now that the comments, opinions and thoughts of other manager’s isn’t something that he spends any time over.

Last season it took the broadcast media a while to realise that Postecoglou sets his side up in a very similar fashion regardless of who the opponents are. Even in the Champions League he won’t resort to parking the bus for a 0-0 draw or the moral victory of a 1-0 defeat.

At Hampden today Viaplay got their pre-match picture of the two managers sitting side by side, there was no small talk. 

Beale struggles to get through a media conference without discussing Celtic’s finances, their lucky manager or form but it is an issue that the hoops manager steers well, well clear of.

QUESTION: Michael Beale was saying that both teams are in a better place than when they last met in January, do you feel that is the case?

POSTECOGLOU: Mate, I can only talk about us. We certainly like like since the break we’ve certainly been stronger- we had a string first half of the year to be fair- we’ve consistently improved over recent weeks.

A bit of that is obviously we have a stronger squad, we added players in January who have helped us. Not just in terms of matches but in terms of training, the level of training has been raised. We haven’t had a midweek game for two or three weeks now which I think has helped us as well. I just think that our performances have got stronger since the mid-season break.
