Oh Hyeon-gyu opened his Celtic scoring account last night against St Mirren and promised his new followers that there is more on the way.

Celtic were leading 2-0 when goalkeeper Trevor Carson parried a Callum McGregor shot, in his fourth substitute appearance the new bhoy instinctively tucked the loose ball into the net to kill off any prospect of a late rally from St Mirren.

With Kyogo Furuhashi suffering a shoulder injury in the early stages of the match Oh might be called on more than anticipated following his January move from Suwon Bluewings.

Daizen Maeda switched to playing at centre-forward when Kyogo was injured which provides Ange Postecoglou with two options if Kyogo is unavailable.

In his four appearances off the bench Oh has looked the part but playing from the start is a very different challenge.

The fitness of Kyogo and the condition of his left shoulder will be a big issue in the coming weeks with Saturday’s team lines for the match against Aberdeen keenly awaited.
