Mark Schwarzer doesn’t expect Ange Postecoglou to ditch Celtic to join Leeds United.
Over the last couple of days there has been lots of media speculation about the prospect with most of the content generated by comments from former players.
Postecoglou is just past the halfway point in his second season at Celtic and in the driving seat to deliver a place in the group stages of the Champions League for the second season running.
Champions League football is a pipe-dream for Leeds supporters as they battle against relegation but there is no doubting the allure of the EPL.
Postecoglou has a far broader perspective of world football than pundits like Jason Cundy and Paul Robinson but at some stage he will leave Celtic with an EPL club a possible destination.
As well as playing international football under Postecoglou, former Middlesbrough keeper Schwarzer interviewed the Celtic boss last season and is likely to be closer to his thinking than most UK based pundits.
Picking up on an interview with Sky Sports News, the Daily Record reports Schwarzer saying:
He’d be an exceptional fit but I don’t think he’ll leave Celtic, if at all, at this moment in time. His rapport with the club and the fans is too important to him. I haven’t spoken to him, I’m purely speculating, but I don’t think it’s his style to leave in the middle of a season. If he does go, I think it will be done in the right manner and at the right time because that’s how he does business.
He’s achieved things wherever he’s gone, first in Australia, then in Japan, and now in Scotland with Celtic. He delivered with Australia too, winning their first ever Asian Cup in 2015. I really feel like, wherever he goes, he’ll be a success.
At Leeds United, there’s a great case to put forward that there’s pressure. There’s fans demanding and expecting a certain level of performance. We know how passionate their fans are and how important it is for them to get back to the heights that they’ve shown over years gone by.
So Ange would be a great appointment and someone who would take it all in his stride, and he would be well-suited to the way they have played football over the years and to take them to another level. But I don’t think this is the time for him to go.

They are looking at teams they could face in the qualifying rounds for the champions league next season,yes next season.
Lol oh how the mighty have fallen from European final just the other year to throwing in the towel at the beginning of February and talk of playing qualifying rounds to try and get into the big guys playground of the Champions League.
