Less than a week after apperently undergoing a medical for Urawa Red Diamonds it is being reported that his move to the J-League has been called off.
Urawa were the first club to agree terms with Celtic for the striker but news of a medical in Amsterdam appears to have prompted Atlanta United into upping their offer for Giakoumakis.
The J-League got underway at the start of the month with the MLS starting on February 26 when Atlanta face San Jose.

Having missed out on Celtic’s last four matches it seems certain that his appearance and goal against Kilmarnock last month in the Viaplay Cup semi-final was the 28-year-old’s last as a Celtic player.
Dutch side VVV Venlo will be due a cut of the reported £4m fee that Atlanta have agreed with Oh Hyeon-gyu already making two appearances off the bench as back-up striker to Kyogo Furuhashi.
Molla is credited with being the first reporter to reveal Celtic’s interest in Reo Hatate, on 3 November 2021.
