SFA push through Nicolas Raskin signing without a work permit

The SFA pushed through the deadline day deal to transfer Nicolas Raskin from Standard Liege without the player having a work permit for his move.

Raskin was able to take part in a range of in-house interviews and photo shoots to celebrate his signing but the Belgian internationalist didn’t have approval to work in this country.

Last night he wasn’t included in Micky Beale’s squad for the win over Hearts with the Ibrox boss touching on the issue at a media conference today.

Glasgow Live! Reports:

Michael Beale has revealed Nicolas Raskin may need to wait for his Rangers debut with a work permit yet to arrive for the deadline day recruit.

Sandy Bryson is the Head of Registrations at the SFA with a track record going back to Jorge Cadete’s transfer from Sporting Lisbon to Celtic in 1996 as well as a decade of disguised remuneration from Dave Murray and Campbell Ogilvie.

Giorgos Giakoumakis is waiting for a work permit before he can complete his transfer from Celtic to Atalanta United.

QUESTION: Are you still waiting for clearance for Nicolas to potentially be available for this weekend?

MB: Yeah, yeah, hopefully that will come through, I know that they’ve got a backlog, em, so hopefully em a few nagging emails and they’ll put that to the front because obviously after the transfer window there is quite a few players coming in.

Morton had an application to the SFA to sign Nadir Ciftci rejected, last season the striker played for St Johnstone having previously been at Celtic, Dundee United and Motherwell.
