Barry Bannan looks on course for a double title celebration.

At Hillsborough yesterday he helped Sheffield Wednesday to a 1-0 win over Plymouth that lifted his side into top spot, on goal difference, against their direct opponents.

Bannan is now in his eighth season with the Yorkshire side but anyone familiar with his social media accounts knows that there is one team that has his everlasting attention.

Straight from school the young midfielder joined Aston Villa, moving on to clubs such as Blackpool, Bolton and Derby County while picking up 27 Scotland caps.

At the age of 33 he has stuck with Sheffield Wednesday through thick and thin, some highly paid players have come and gone but he has stayed the duration including the 2021 relegation on the back of a points deduction for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

Celtic’s nine point lead with 13 matches left to play looks good enough to land another title with Bannan’s full attention on League One to double up on the celebrations.
